Polymers - complete process chains and the world's biggest plants
Uhde boasts a long tradition in the construction of plants for the production of plastics. Our company is one of the leading suppliers of polymer plants. Together with our licensors Basell and Vinnolit we build our customers the most modern plants for the production of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
We construct extremely cost-efficient PVC plants based on the sophisticated Vinnolit suspension polymerisation technology with the new high-performance reactor. At the same time we are the only engineering company who is able to offer, from a single source, plant complexes covering the entire process chain from chlorine, through ethylene dichloride (EDC) and vinyl chloride (VCM) to PVC. We are currently building a plant complex of this type in the Middle East.
In the case of polyethylene (PE) plants, our licensor is Basell, the leading producer of polyethylene. Basell's technology portfolio comprises cutting-edge technologies for the production of low, medium and high-density (LD, MD, HDPE) polyethylene. In the Persian Gulf region alone Uhde has, in the past five years, designed and, in some cases, already completed polyethylene plants based on Basell technologies with a cumulative annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes of PE. These include the world's biggest plants with an annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes.
In the field of polypropylene (PP) plants we have access to the world-beating Spheripol technology, licensed by Basell. In all, Uhde has built PP plants with a cumulative annual capacity of over 1 million tonnes of PP worldwide.
