Among the past successful implementations of the Uhde ammonia process are a 1,800 mtpd ammonia plant for BASF, Belgium, a 1,500 mtpd ammonia plant for Saskferco, Canada, and a 1,500 mtpd ammonia plant for Qafco, Qatar. Following two 1,200 mtpd ammonia plants in Egypt for Abu Qir Fertilizer and Egyptian Fertilizers, and a smaller plant for GAP Insaat in Turkmenistan, Uhde was awarded a second contract from Qafco for a 2,000 mtpd ammonia plant in 2001.
The most recent success and new milestone in Uhde's ammonia technology was the first contract for the new Uhde Dual-Pressure Process - a 3,300 mtpd ammonia plant awarded by Saudi Arabian Fertilizers in April 2003. In 2004 Uhde has been awarded contracts for three almost identical ammonia / urea plants in Egypt in succession. These contracts are the successful continuation of a long partnership between Uhde and the Egyptian industrial sector.
With these four major ammonia/urea contracts within 12 months Uhde has become a world leader in the field of large-capacity ammonia/urea complexes.
